They missed replacing some bolts onto my cars engine after doing some work. Fortunately after driving for several hundred miles the bolts were still in my engine compartment and something I simply placed back on my engine. But they do not do a professional job or don't have mechanics qualified or diligent enough to do competent work. Upon talking to the manager Jeff who is the owners son I felt even more reluctant to ever bring return business to this company after his first refusal to admit his mechanics would do such a thing then after explaining exactly how they could and did do a sloppy job simply said what do you want me to do about it. I want to know my car was worked on properly. If I can see on the outside of the engine that they did a sloppy job it only makes me wonder about the inside of the engine to which he just kept saying what do you want me to do about it.

I brought my 1979 Datsun pick up there because it was leaking oil. They took a look at it, and I was quoted 350$ to replace the main valve seal. 350$ to replace a main valve seal on a 1979 Datsun is fraud, pure and simple.

Gary's has continued to earn my business with friendliness and great customer service. I bought 2 tires from them a year and a half ago, and since then they have taken care of a few punctures at no charge. Recently we needed to replace a rim that had developed a crack and Gary's mounted, balanced, and installed at no charge - way above and beyond. Staff is always friendly and accommodating (especially J.R.) Don't hesitate, these guys rock.

They are HONEST, NICE, they reccomend, not "you have to", KNOWLEDGEABLE, best of all....Jake repaired my Oldsmobile Omega, afterward I asked questions...he answered them without hesitation and without my feeling that I got " ripped off. I shall return with wife's car!

This towing company was towing another vehicle in my neighborhood off 134th & Powell at approximately 11:00 pm. The driver seemed to have no idea what to do. It has been on my street now for over 25 minutes & still no solution. I didn't need the tow, just peace & quiet when trying to end go to bed!

I brought my pretty banged up vehicle for what I was hoping was just 2 new tires after popping a front tire (by misjudging & hitting a curb at about 30 mph). Life just sometimes doesn't work that way and I needed a bit more TLC than that to correct some serious alignment issues. Jeff, the son of Gary, the owner, took great care of me and gave me clear information about the process and what was needed. I have to admit that being a female kicks off the "am I being sold a bill of goods?" alarm because it was going to almost double what I originally expected to be spending that day. Yikes, but it's life, right? So I just gotta' follow my gut instincts in these situations and my gut was dead on as usual. I felt I was in great hands. This is an honest, family business that provides EXCELLENT customer service, clear communication about the process your vehicle is going through, rides back to your residence close by if the process will be lengthy, timely and reasonable turnaround for vehicle repair and very fair and competitive prices for services. I left knowing that I will return to use them because I prefer to give my business to customer service-based family businesses and also because I know they went above & beyond and basically busted their asses to get me my car back the same day - despite finding out, once the wheels were off, that I had dropped them off a can of worms earlier that morning. Thank you, Jeff, Gary, and all the staff who worked on my car and drove me home! Excellent all around service and staff!

Waited two hours for an oil change despite an early morning appointment. No one informed me they had to special order my oil and that I would be waiting a while. For the record, I'm still sitting here waiting for my car that should have been done an hour ago. No one kept me updated, no one informed me of anything. Extremely frustrated.

Great service! Picked up our car and brought it to the shop. Diagnosed it quickly, ordered and installed the part, and brought it back to our house. Friendly service and lower cost than expected. Thanks!

PT Cruise was running rough, took to Gary's Auto Care and ended up with a $100 labor charge to read a computer code (crank sensor error, a well documented issue on PTs). If you're wondering, this can be done with a $20 code reader, or right from the dash on PTs ($0) Nearly 2 days later, called Gary's Auto Care to find out status on the car. Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care refused to attempt to repair without first charging another $200 for a computer firmware upgrade to verify that the original code was correct, despite being instructed to replace the crank sensor without the computer firmware upgrade. Retrieved car before Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care could charge for an unnecessary computer upgrade. Was treated very rudely by Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care! Guess they really needed that $200. Had to pay the $100 ransom to get the keys back from Gary's Auto Care, if you wondering why someone would pay this overcharge in the first place. Attempts to settle this overcharge with Gary (owner) @ Gary's Auto Care results in them hanging up! Took the car to another independent mechanic (without an appointment!) and had it repaired and running better than ever in less than 4 HOURS, for hardly more than what Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care tried to charge just for a code read and unnecessary software update. Gary's Auto Care also, like a reviewer below, previously tried to overcharge for a door lock repair (it was an obvious mechanical issue, as was described to Gary's Auto Care), Gary's Auto Care said a dealer tech needed to come out and check the computer first (more $$$). (detecting a pattern here...) Again, Gary's Auto Care having the car for nearly 2 days before pulling the car and taking it elsewhere for a speedy, satisfactory, and much less costly repair. Lesson learned, never going back to the Extremely Rude! Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care.

So let me say, these gentlemen here are awesome. I was stranded in a friend of mines car. I needed to get back to Washington so I could get home out of state. These guys worked me in, were nothing but kind and helpful. If and when I move back to Portland, these guys will be my mechanic for my vehicle. Thank you guys for rescuing me!!!
