PT Cruise was running rough, took to Gary's Auto Care and ended up with a $100 labor charge to read a computer code (crank sensor error, a well documented issue on PTs). If you're wondering, this can be done with a $20 code reader, or right from the dash on PTs ($0) Nearly 2 days later, called Gary's Auto Care to find out status on the car. Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care refused to attempt to repair without first charging another $200 for a computer firmware upgrade to verify that the original code was correct, despite being instructed to replace the crank sensor without the computer firmware upgrade. Retrieved car before Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care could charge for an unnecessary computer upgrade. Was treated very rudely by Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care! Guess they really needed that $200. Had to pay the $100 ransom to get the keys back from Gary's Auto Care, if you wondering why someone would pay this overcharge in the first place. Attempts to settle this overcharge with Gary (owner) @ Gary's Auto Care results in them hanging up! Took the car to another independent mechanic (without an appointment!) and had it repaired and running better than ever in less than 4 HOURS, for hardly more than what Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care tried to charge just for a code read and unnecessary software update. Gary's Auto Care also, like a reviewer below, previously tried to overcharge for a door lock repair (it was an obvious mechanical issue, as was described to Gary's Auto Care), Gary's Auto Care said a dealer tech needed to come out and check the computer first (more $$$). (detecting a pattern here...) Again, Gary's Auto Care having the car for nearly 2 days before pulling the car and taking it elsewhere for a speedy, satisfactory, and much less costly repair. Lesson learned, never going back to the Extremely Rude! Jeff (son of Gary) @ Gary's Auto Care.
